About Me

My name is Bettina Egert. I am a professional counsellor with a Master of Arts degree from Antioch University and have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, with Certifications in Solution Focused Therapy and Hypnotherapy.

With many thousands of successful sessions, I have supported numerous families, couples and individuals of all ages; from younger children to teens, as well as parents and adults up to 80 years old. I helped them develop a better understanding of themselves and to create effective tools to deal with a wide variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, addiction, relationship issues and behavioural matters.

Although my education and background are rooted in various theoretical foundations, I greatly align with a person-centered counselling approach, honouring each client as a unique individual, with their own personal experiences and needs. I provide a non-judgemental and safe space, based on empathy, trust and authenticity, that encourages my clients to freely express and communicate their experiences, needs and challenges.

My practice is trauma-informed, being aware about the impact and consequences of traumatic experiences for individuals, families and communities. I use a collaborative, strengths-based approach, appreciating the resilience of trauma survivors.

I believe that you are the expert for yourself, and that the solutions to your situation are to be found within yourself.

I specialize in holistic counselling approaches that combine Solution-focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with embodied practices, such as visualizations, relaxation and breath exercises.

Being passionate about working with children and youth, I incorporate elements of play and art therapy, to encourage various modes of expression that can alleviate stress. Attachment theories have shaped my work deeply, as past attachment wounds often influence one’s relationship pattern and parenting style.

In addition to individual, couples and family sessions, I love group work, integrating a variety of approaches, such as mild movement, breath, relaxation and art-work; blending them with information about the theoretic foundations of stress, trauma and mindfulness.
